Insurers do not request a GP report for every application. It is more likely where you have disclosed a specific condition, where larger amounts of cover are involved, or where the underwriter wants to confirm details before deciding terms.

A GP report can add time to the application, because it depends on your surgery responding. It is not a sign that something is wrong; it simply lets the underwriter base their decision on accurate information rather than assumptions.
